Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills - REGISTERNOW

Friday, April 28 5pm to Saturday April 29, 2017 at 5pm

Who: Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, Varsity Coaches, Committee Members, Organizational Representatives and anyone interested in learning basic outdoor camping skills. Minimum age is 18yrs

Emphasis will be placed on learning the following skills:

  • Campsite Selection
  • Outdoor Ethics
  • Knots and Lashings
  • Woods Tools
  • Map and Compass
  • Plant and Animal Identification
  • Fire Site Preparation and Building
  • Packing & Hiking Techniques

Satisfactory completion of this course is part of the Basic Leader Training for all Scoutmasters, ASMs, and Varsity Coaches & Asst. Varsity Coaches wishing to be certified as “Trained” for their position, and recommended for anyone wishing to take Wood Badge or learn basic camping skills. This is an overnight camping course. You will need to bring your own tent, camp chair and personal gear as needed. Most of the sessions are taught outside, so wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear. Friday night cracker barrel and breakfast and lunch on Saturday will be provided.

Arrive 5:00-6:30 P.M. on Friday- Depart about 5 P.M. Saturday

Cost: $30.00 per person – Registration/online payments through Wed., April 26th / Register and pay online. Payments can be made on-line when registering or at either Deicke or Norris Scout stores. No refunds within 1 week of the event because of purchased materials.
