spaghettiWhat is Scouting for Food? Over the last 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America have repeatedly demonstrated their loyalty, helpfulness and commitment to this nation. Once again the Boy Scouts of the Thunderbird District have been asked to demonstrate their Commitment to America and its people by collecting food for the those in need. Scouting for Food is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement. Through initiative and hard work, the Boy Scouts have developed a framework that can help local food pantries feed tens of thousands of needy local residents with emergency aid. Three Fires Council and the Thunderbird District do not organize an area-wide effort. Instead, individual units elect to participate by selecting their own dates and subdivisions for door hangar distribution and food pick-up. Thunderbird District provides a generic door hangar which units customize to fit their dates. The only coordination provided by the District is to ensure the subdivisions selected by units do not overlap. Please see the attached Scouting for Food guide for more information on how your unit can run a drive. For more information and to obtain door hangars, please contact Thunderbird District Activities Chair Rich Tatara at This email address is being protected from spambots.
